Situated along the Danube, north of the city centre, Graphisoft Park has become a model of the contemporary Budapest office park. Based upon a Scandinavian sense of space, the buildings are low-rise and integrate harmoniously into their natural surroundings. The buildings are contemporary, yet do not aim to compete either with the beauty of the Danube or their overall context. As Graphisoft transformed from a local
software firm into an internationally recognised company, the nature and design of the workplace also had to adapt. We were asked to design the interiors in such a manner that the intimacy of the family-style workplace is maintained, whilst the company’s evolution into an international leader is easily recognised. With reinvented spatial systems, the use of natural materials and the community spaces that open to the Danube we have established a completely novel environment for Graphisoft. We designed a large café within the communal area at the entrance, which now acts as the heart of the community. The lobby also set the tone for the overall design palette, which can be traced throughout the building: wooden ceilings, high-quality lighting and natural colours.
